Last February, I underwent a fairly major spinal surgery. While I was in the hospital recovering, this crazy guy walked in with a giant Hungry Caterpillar balloon, and asked me to illustrate a book he was writing. I've always loved art and creating, but I had never done it professionally. I'd done plenty of t-shirts and designs for friends and family, but never ventured outside that. I'd be nearly immobile for the next month, so I figured "why not?" Over the next month I created two covers and 34 illustrations for Max T. Booker. Eight months later I'm standing in my kitchen, holding a copy of the book in my hand with my name on the cover. Seeing that was a type of rewarding feeling that I've never experienced, but now hope to feel again and again. When I showed my family the physical copy of the book, the cheers and hugs and kisses were worth everything to me! The author, Pat Moon, and I have been friends for nearly 30 years and working with him on this project was awesome. I hope I did justice in bringing to life the story of these dogs and their owner.
The book is available at MaxTBooker.com and coming soon to Amazon. Autographed and "Pawtographed" copies are available from the website as well.
